2023 Fundraising Challenge
Shining Through Shadows is seeking a base of 100 friends who will commit to donation at least $30 annually to create a base amount of $3000 that we can count on to fund our current scholarship and expand our mission to include other projects.

In September 2021, in remembrance of the 10th anniversary of the passing of Seth Stark, the Stark family hosted a small driveway fundraiser. Due to social distancing precautions, the event was small scale. $144 was collected that day, and we received three donations during that week through the PayPal button on our website totaling $135.
$279 is about half of what is needed to fund just one 2022 scholarship. We would like to expand the Shining Through Shadows Resilient Spirit Scholarship to include more than one scholarship annually.
Other fundraisers are currently being planned after a long pause due to a variety of circumstances.
We are hoping to have the next fundraiser be a garage sale in Melbourne Beach. More details to follow.

Gi'Anna, our 2017 Shining Through Shadows Resilient Spirit Scholarship recipient, completed her Associate's degree in May 2022. Gi'Anna truly is a resilient spirit, and has persevered to reach this milestone despite personal situations that kept putting obstacles in her path toward her goal.
Shining Through Shadows Expands Mission to
Help Younger Resilient Spirits Shine

Resiliency must be developed early, so we have expanded our education related mission to the elementary school level. Shining Through Shadows has become a community partner with Sherwood Elementary in Melbourne, Florida. Thirty copies of Rules for a Knight by Ethan Hawke were donated to initiate a 6th grade leadership project at Sherwood Elementary.
Update 2021:
The books, Rules for a Knight, are still being incorporated as part of a character education and literary study for the sixth grade students at Sherwood Elementary!
