We get by with a little help from our friends!
It all started when Sam Sims liked the Shining Through Shadows Facebook page that he heard about through a mutual friend during a visit to Florida. After hearing his music, we met Sam at a local restaurant where he was performing. He graciously offered to do a benefit concert for Shining Through Shadows to jump start our fundraising to provide scholarships for adult education students. We couldn't have done it without his support!
Sam Sims and fellow musician Kyle Ward performed at our first fundraiser in 2014 where we celebrated Kimmi's graduation from the South Area Adult Education Center. Both Sam and Kyle are talented musicians and we were grateful that they performed at our inaugural event. Donations to Shining Through Shadows from family and friends got our nonprofit off to a good start.
In 2016 Sam performed solo at a gathering for a milestone birthday for Susie. Contributions from family, friends and local businesses provided food, flowers and silent auction items for this event also.
